Power to Choose Green Power in Virginia

Dominion Power now allows you to support renewable energy. By simply filling out a form with Dominion Power you will be ensuring that green energy is delivered directly to the grid.
Dominion’s Green Power option works simple by Dominion purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (REC) in the amount that the Virginia 
Dominion customer specifies. This is a ideal way for Virginia residents to support renewable green energy. Once enrolled the Green Power charge will show up as a separate charge on your bill, allowing easy identification.
The additional cost to participate in the Green Power program is a penny and a half per kilowatt-hour ($0.015 / kilowatt-hour). Dominion have two options, 100% option which is calculated according to your power usage or the Black option allows you to purchase RECs in any $2 fixed increment, which is added to your monthly bill. Either option helps the customer reduce carbon emissions.
With this new green option from Dominion, and the ongoing Chesapeake Green (C-Green) from Clean Currents the choices for residents of the Washington DC metropolitan area seem to be getting easier to make the from environmentally unfriendly power to renewable energy.
