Cell phones, we can’t live without them, they have become an integral part of our everyday life, and when we leave home without one, we almost feel 
naked. The average life of the cell phone is between 9-18 months, and most of us change at least once every two years.
There are 285 million wireless subscribers in the United States and if you imagine only half of them change their wireless phones every 12 months, this is 142.5 million obsolete cell phones in the US alone. So what to do with your old phone? I imagine most people toss it in the kitchen drawer or maybe even into the trash, but ideally what we should be doing is recycling our old cell phone. Recycling cell phones is as important as recycling your household trash, or maybe even more so, as cell phones contain toxic materials that should not end up in our landfills or groundwater.
Recycling of the cell phone also reduces the number of phones that are manufactured, which in turn reduces carbon emissions; and is kinder to the environment.
