Northern Virginia Neighborhood Farmers Market.

Local produce, I was starting to think it was a thing of the past. I think that most of you would agree that when we walk around our local Supermarket,
most fruits, vegetables, fish and meats come from other countries let alone another state. Of course it is great to be able to eat Strawberries in the Winter, and enjoy Oysters out of season, but it is also nice to be able to go to the neighborhood market and know that the produce you are buying is locally grown.
Buying locally grown produce not only gives back to the community by supporting farmers, it also decreases your carbon footprint. I would hate to think how much fuel is wasted transporting Strawberry’s from Chile. The good news is that neighborhoods like Arlington, Alexandria, Annandale, Fairfax, Falls Church, Mclean and Vienna to name just a few still have a Weekly Farmers Market.
At the Farmers Market you can buy fruits, vegetables, fish, meats, plants, locally made jelly and pickles the list is endless. Additionally many of the vendors only supply organic produce, which is free of harmful chemicals and pesticides. Click here to access your local Farmers Markets in the Northern Virginia area.
Farmers Markets make for a great outing, most of the time they are conveniently located in the neighborhood center, for example the Arlington Farmers Market is located in Clarendon, next to the Metro. Give back to your local farmers, visit your local Farmers Market soon, why not walk or take local transportation, and check out all the beautiful produce they have to offer.
