Renewable Energy Credits.

Clean energy is generated by wind farms, hydropower plants and solar cell farms, to name just a few. Renewable energy sources don’t emit greenhouse gases, are not limited and most importantly; are kind to the environment. Energy produced by these providers is called clean or green energy. The energy produced is piped into the main grid and fielded to your home or business.
Clean energy entering the grid becomes mixed with all other sources. Therefore there is no way to tell what type of energy is fueling your home or business. Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), created by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), are the tool that is used to track the clean energy being put on the grid. The more energy generated by these green energy providers reduces the need for the traditional energy producers, which emit harmful gases to the environment. Although clean energy providers receive payment for the energy that enters the grid, it is nowhere near enough to currently compete with the main fuel producer. By selling Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to homes and businesses, provides these renewable energy producers extra income to expand, and in turn produce more green energy in the future.
Arbour Realty recently purchased enough Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to offset Arbour’s office for a year. The benefits of purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) allows companies like Arbour Realty to offset the energy used, by helping these green fuel providers expand and provide more cleaner energy in the future. If more businesses and private homes made the same commitment to the environment by using Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) like Arbour Realty and other companies, then the future of cleaner energy in the US would look greener and environmentally kinder.
