I know it is only early December, and that most people are still recovering from too much Thanksgiving Turkey, but with the busy holiday season upon us, it will soon be time to celebrate 2012 and watch the ball drop in Time Square. New Year’s Eve 2011 in Northern Virginia and surrounding areas will be as always filled with fun events. Having said that, these New Year’s Eve events in Arlington VA, and other Metropolitan areas generally sell out quickly. I was only reading yesterday that many New Year’s Eve events are already sold out, and I expect other popular venues to follow the trend shortly. With only 24 days before we welcome 2012, now would be a good time for you to take a few minutes and consider your 2011 NYE options. Below are a sample of New Year’s Eve Events in Northern Virginia and the District.

New Year’s 2011 International Dinner Options

This year, enjoy a traditional Spanish New Year’s Eve celebration at Jaleo. Reservations starting at 8:30 PM, enjoy unlimited tapas from their featured seasonal menu. Then at midnight, each guest will be presented with a glass of cava for toasting, and twelve grapes per the Spanish holiday tradition. They will also have a DJ playing music to dance into the New Year! The special menu will be available a la carte for reservations until 7:30 PM. After 8:30, $85 per person for unlimited tapas at all three DC-area locations. (Tax and gratuity not included.)

Upscale New Year’s Options

If you would like to do something a little more upscale this New Years, Professionals in the City is hosting its annual “Passport to the World Gala” at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City (2799 Jefferson Davis Hwy). There will be food, drinks, DJ, entertainment featuring various cultures around the world. The $99 ticket option allows entry at 10:30 p.m. and includes six drink tickets. The $139 ticket option allows entry at 9:00 p.m. and includes eight drink tickets. Book early, as the price increases after December 9th.
