Arlington County Installs Solar Power Panels on Government Building.

Arlington VA is staying on theme to support Arlington County’s green commitment, with the recent installation of solar power panels on Arlington VA Central Library.  This move once again supports Arlington VA’s constant strive to reduce carbon emission within Arlington County. This move should put them on track to achieve their goal of reducing Arlington County government’s carbon emission by 10% before 2012.

250 Solar panels have been installed on Arlington County’s Central Library, and according to a report in Arlnow.com this will save the library or should I say the ‘Arlington County tax payer’ $14,000 in peak electricity charges each year.  Solar power panels are still not cheap and the initial installation will take a few years to offset itself against the saved monies in free renewable energy.  But there is no doubt the installations of these solar powers are a great investment in Arlington County’s green future.
