Clarendon Center is Under Construction
Anyone who has walked or driven through Clarendon in recent months has been slightly re-routed due to construction of Clarendon Center South and Clarendon Center North.
Clarendon Center South is located at 3028 Wildon Blvd. The project was approved in June of 2006 and construction began around May 2009. The building will incorporate 38,333 square feet of ground floor retail, 244 residential units and 123,059 square feet of office space. The building will reach a total of 12 stories.
Clarendon Center North is located at 3030 Wilson Blvd., directly across from Clarendon Metro Station. This building will have an additional 23,047 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, no residential and 97,860 square feet of office space.
Clarendon is know for its many dining, shopping and nightlife options. With an additional 61,380 square feet of retail space between these two building it appears that the options are going to become even more plentiful.
It will be interesting to learn whether they decide to sell or rent the 244 units of residential space. The Phoenix was the last high rise condo in Clarendon built to keep up with the insatiable demand for condos in Clarendon. The Phoenix sold out quickly and prices for Clarendon condos have been experiencing a modest rise. The only other condos currently in Clarendon are: Clarendon 1021, The Hartford, Clarendon 3131 and Station Square. The Charleston condo is on the outskirts, but closer to Courthouse than Clarendon.
