Use Tax Credits to Buy a Green Home or Make Green Home Improvements
A few months ago we talked about how easy it was to find a Green Home in Northern Virginia, or even Green Real Estate in Arlington VA. Adam Gallegos founder of Arbour Realty Northern 
Virginia’s first environmentally friendly Real Estate Company stated that there were not that many pre-built green homes in Northern Virginia but eco-friendly homes and Green Building in Northern Virginia are becoming more popular.
The good news is that with favorable tax credits, even if you don’t find a pre-built green home, you can still transform a standard house into an eco-friendly home. Federal Tax Credits and Virginia rebates for energy efficient home improvements can help green your home. Also don’t for get to take advantage of the First Time Homebuyers Tax Credits which has been extended to April 2010, which gives an $8,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers, with some new tax credit benefits for existing homeowners.
If all of the above tax credits and benefits were not enough of an incentive to purchase your green home, then there is also FHA 203k loan a permanent mortgage which allows for the acquisition (or refinance) of a residential property and the escrow of funds for repairs, remodeling and/or improvements after closing, eliminating the need for short-term construction financing.
