Australian Town Bans the Sale of Water Bottles.
Water bottles have received much criticism, they are frankly a waste of resources, environmentally unfriendly and fill landfill sites. Using a reusable bottle seems to make more environmental, financial and health conscious sense.
It makes me wonder why people still continue to use these eco-unfriendly bottles, especially in countries where it is safe to drink water from the faucet. I suspect that is what the people in the Australian town of Bundanoon
must have been thinking. Bundanoon, Australia is the first Australian town and possible the first town in the world to ban the sale of bottle water. The local stores have replaced the landfill menacing water bottle with environmentally friendly reusable water bottles.
I appreciate that there are times when you need water, and purchasing a single bottle is the only way. Bundanoon, Australia have addressed this problem by installing water fountains throughout the area so after purchasing a reusable water bottle, filling it is easy. Hopefully Bundanoon, Australia environmental commitment will start an onward trend.
