Energy efficient & eco-friendly homes are becoming a main priority to many current and future home buyers. The National Association of 
Realtors (NAR) conducted a survey back in 2007 and found that 46 percent of people considered the energy efficiency of the property when purchasing a home. That number significantly jumped to 87 percent in 2008 when the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) conducted the same survey.
Energy efficient homes not only save money in the long run with lower utility bills, but also contribute to a greener environment. Research shows that during the recent housing downturn, most energy efficient homes held their value and often sold quicker.
Home buyers are prepared to pay between $5000 to $11000 more for a energy efficient home according to research by National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
