Organic or Natural, Do You Know the Difference?

Organic and natural, I thought that they were one in the same, and I guess I am not alone; apparently there is a lot of confusion between the two. After Organic or naturldoing a little research it appears there is a big difference and you could be buying a “natural” product thinking it is “organic”, when in fact there are no guarantees.

Organic labeled produce offers us the confidence in purchasing a product that we know been grown or raised naturally without the use of pesticides or artificial hormones. Have you ever noticed how organic labeled products don’t have a very long shelf life, well that is a good thing, although it can be little irritating when you plan to use it and find a nice mold coating.  Organic labeled products are minimally processed without artificial ingredients, preservatives, or irradiation to maintain the integrity of the food.

Natural products only guarantee a couple of things; the product does not contain synthetic or artificial ingredients. There are no guarantees that the origins are free of hormones, pesticides or any of that other stuff that we are learning is potentially bad for the human body and the environment. This leads me to pose the question that when we are paying more for organic and natural products, maybe the labeling needs to be a little less ambiguous.
