You may not be aware of this but your home could be costing you unnecessary expense.  Often when you hear discussions on cost cutting  home tips, a hot topic is saving energy.  The most common turn the thermostat down, turn off lights and don’t leave your appliances on stand-by.  These are all great tips, but even if you follow each one to the T, you could still be burning unnecessary energy.

Most homes lack insufficient insulation, and according to Smart Energy Living the average homes leaks 50% of it’s air every hour. That amounts to a lot of wasted air conditioning and heating energy.  Simple  insulation improvements can reduce this wasted energy.  There are many different types of insulation from Fiberglass, Cellulose and Foam, which can be used and installed, although using a professional company is always advisable.  If you are considering a home improvement or renovation this year, having an energy audit conducted would be a wise choice. Energy conservation is beneficial to your wallet, the environment and also the resale value of your home.
