Taking the Environmental Commitment to the Next Level.
I am always amazed when I visit a friend or colleague’s home at the amount of energy and money being wasting. The dripping faucet in the bathroom, the running toilet, and the pantry light that always stays on, are prime examples of wastefulness, which I regularly encounter. These are often found in the homes of some of the most environmentally focused people I know, and who make big lifestyle changes in order to be eco-friendly. Sometimes it seems that we just overlook the most simplest of things. .
I think that it is our social and environmental duty to point out to our friends and family these overlooked environmental faux pas. It can be achieved easily and without offense with just a gentle reminder, for example mentioning that repairing a leaky fixture can save as mush as 10 gallons of water each week. For those friends who are not so eco-friendly, I find mentioning the monetary benefits seems to work quite effectively. The future protection of the environment is everyone’s responsibility, and even if we feel that we are living a healthy green existence it never hurts to go the extra mile and point others in the right direction.
