Arbour Realty Makes an Environmentally Friendly Holiday Card Choice.

Here at Arbour Realty we are 100% environmentally focused, so when it came to the decision on holiday cards this year, we were in a real dilemma.  Obviously the ritual of sending holiday cards is not only wasteful with respects to the amount of trees destroyed, energy consumed making the cards and the fuel burned transporting them to their intended destination, but also the financial waste of purchasing something that is only kept for at max a couple of weeks, when the money could be given to something a little more charitable.  As a company we want to show appreciation to our clients, colleagues, partners and family, and a sending a festive greeting during the holiday period is a nice gesture.

The Team at Arbour Realty spent a lot of time researching and considering all options that would show appreciation to our clients and continue our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and give back to the community.  Thankfully, we came up with the perfect solution.  We found a company called Cards for Causes; their recycled paper holiday greeting cards are made of environmentally or earth friendly recycled stock. Cards for Causes donate 20% of every purchase to the nonprofit cause of the customer’s choice, and here at Arbour Realty our cause of choice was Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE), a resource for public education about the local environment and for volunteer involvement in environmental improvement efforts.

I acknowledge that it is hard in the corporate world to make decisions that benefit your customers and that are kind to the environment.  But I think Arbour Realty’s choice to use earth friendly recycled cards which gave back to a local environmental cause (ACE), showed that with a little time and effort the client and the environment can stand happily hand in hand.
