Virginia's $250 Energy Audit Rebate

by Lisa Tsoupelis on October 7, 2009

Today’s news seems very fitting with the blog I wrote last week ‘Meet Chris Your Local Energy Auditor’, which identified the benefits of a home energyEnergy Audit Rebate audit. In last weeks blog, I highlighted the following as the main reasons for conducting a home energy audit: improving air quality, saving money on energy bills, increasing comfort, mitigating moisture problems,  and reducing your carbon footprint.

If the above reasons were not a big enough incentive to schedule a home energy audit, I think the following exciting news from Virginia DMME’s Division of Energy should seal the deal. Virginia Homeowners will be eligible to receive a rebate up to $250 of the cost of having an energy audit conducted by a certified auditor or contractor.

In addition to the $250 energy audit rebate, Division of Energy will be providing $15 million in rebates for the installation of energy efficiency systems and devices in residential homes and commercial businesses. The energy efficiency rebate covers Central AC Units, Heat Pumps, Furnaces, window replacement and other major systems equipment.
Combined with the federal tax credit for energy efficient improvements, home owners could be compensated for up to 50% of the costs they incur.  Stay tuned… we our working with our CPA to publish more detailed information about these programs in the coming days.

During the month of October, Arbour Realty has teamed up with Chris Conway to give away a free home energy audit to a home owner or future home owner in Northern Virginia.  To enter, just send and email to info@arbourrealty.com with Green Gobbler in the subject line.  Click on the following link to read about the potential savings you could make by scheduling a home energy audit today.

Hi, Lisa. Not only will the homeowners get as much as half of the total cost of getting their homes energy-audited and of installing energy-efficient fixtures, but they'll also be saving a lot of money in the long run due to lesser energy bills. It is indeed a good thing to start taking the steps to greener homes because this helps ourselves and the environment.

Right now, I'm looking for energy-efficient windows for my home. I was able to get more helpful information from this informative Toronto windows and doors site where they have a comparison of types of windows as well as their energy ratings.
